I was reading an interesting back-issue newsletter from a well known marketing guru. And he was talking about frozen Peanut & Jelly sandwiches made by Smuckers. I don't know if they still make 'em... but still...

You just yank it out of the freezer and stick it in the kid's lunch pail before they head off for school. OK. This product is for very lazy parents. As the marketer concluded... let the kid make his own lunch. It's a useful life skill.

Same thing with relationships. You get what you put in. If you ignore the other person. Treat them with disrespect or plain don't like yourself...

Guess what? You aren't going to be happy. And don't you dare go looking for another relationship because sure as rain... you still are going to be happy.

In short... work on your relationships. It's a life skill.

And it is the little things that we procrastinate and put off... until the piper come along and asked to be paid.

In this case, it was the IRS. And Wesley was sentenced to 3 years of jail.

But for the fans, don't worry too much. He will get the Martha Stewart treatment. And besides, if Wesley is smart enough, he will be planning his comeback...

And I think politics have been getting more and more decisive and bitter... Both parties are responsible so don't bother putting in posts how your candidate is pure as driven snow...

I really don't care...

It is business as usual. And if you find yourself getting really angry and confrontational about politics -- take a break dude.

You will notice that folks around you are getting uncomfortable when you rant...

That is not good -- for relationships and friendships.

So give it a break and enjoy other things in life.

After all, nothing will change in Washington D.C. -- the politics and parties are too ingrained in their demagoguery that they completely ignore what is really important.

Giving candy and Roses seems so commercial these days and don't really mean anything unless there is a specific flavor of chocolate or flower that has special meanings to you both...

Otherwise it is sort of like a "honey do" thing which costs a lot of money and doesn't give the equivalent benefits...

Why not do something more special?

For the guys -- how about paying extra attention to your significant other? Work on a project around the house or a hobby together. Laugh and tease a lot...

For the gals -- why not get a moderately priced tool that your hubby or boyfriend wants. Or make his favorite meal or dessert?

I really think this could work this year if we ALL do this instead of spending all that money on meaningless flowers and candy...

Dieting has been related to injuries and sudden deaths from electrolyte imbalance, malnutrition, and heart arrhythmia's. Weight cycling, or yo-yo-ing weight, is associated with higher death rates - especially if some type of pills are being used. At no point should you ever place weight loss above your health.

3. Dieting Destroys your Metabolism. Diets will cause your weight to quickly cycle up and down. Sure, you may lose weight quickly because you are simply not eating enough. In the initial stages, the first seven to nine pounds lost are water, presenting a real danger of dehydration and mineral deficiencies. Even more terrifying ins the break down of lean muscle due to inefficient
nutrients and calories. If you are losing more than 3-4 pounds a week, you can be sure this is what is happening - very little fat is lost this state.

Now, any muscle loss will cause your metabolism slow to a crawl. The cumulative effect takes place for you cannot survive very long on very low calories (1200 or less) and you will eventually eat more - on top of a slower metabolism. All those excess calories will be stored as fat - causing rapid weight gain.

4. Dieting is Exhausting. Diets are just reduced calorie Fads disguised by a clever gimmick. "Lose weight while you sleep" "Eat all you want and still lose weight" Not eating enough or cutting out certain food groups means your body may not be getting the energy it needs, or may lack certain nutrients. You will feel exhausted, light headed and experience some not-so-fun mood swings.

5. Dieting is Disruptive. Dieting negatively affects your normal eating patterns. Diets can lead to binge eating, overeating and chaotic eating. When you diet, it is common to override your
internal signals telling you to eat. You end up trying to use willpower or resist hunger signals and may even go as far as taking appetite suppressants. This results in being unable to know when
you really are hungry or wore....when you're full.

6. Dieting can lead to eating disorders. Experts state that the high rates of eating disorders in the U.S. are due in part to people dieting, losing weight, rebounding, and becoming chronic dieters.

7. Dieting Causes Food Obsessions. If you spend a large amount of time and energy depriving yourself of food or certain types of food - you will spend more time thinking about food and become obsessed attempts to control your weight by what you choose to eat or not eat. How long do you want to live like this?

8. Dieting Diminishes Women. There is way too much attention focused on our appearance and an arbitrary number on the scale. In the midst of this focus - we end up avoiding what really matters to us - our dreams and ambitions. Even worse, it erodes our confidence and self-respect.

9. Dieting Intensifies Negativity. If you diet, you are more judgmental and critical of yourself and others. Once again, wasted time and energy.

10. Diets Put Your Life on Hold. Does this sound familiar...."I'll be happy when I weigh ______" Guess what, the issues in your life are not related to your weight. A week after Thanksgiving a young woman was murdered in Kansas. Her real name was Emily Sanders... but her pseudonym was Zoey Zane -- an 18 year old Internet model a la porn starlet.

I have never seen her, I have no clue what kind of porn star Zoey was but she did have a double life. On one side was an respectable 18 year old student at the Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. ON the flip side she took all her clothes off from money I suppose.

The suspect in her murder is an... drum roll please... a man with a record. His name is Israel Mireles. He may be an illegal immigrant that went into hiding back in Mexico.

Emily was last seen leaving a bar with this man. I really don't know why she did what she did. I don't know if this man knew about her secret life and but I really do know that bad things sometimes happens to good people.

And that bad thing may be Israel Mireles. I hope he is brought to justice...

The other day I clicked on a link that took me to Oprah's website. I was intrigued by the 50 year love story that was chronicled in the book, "Love in the Time of Cholera."

The name of the guy in the book was Herman. When he was 12 years old, he was sent along with his family to one of the Nazi Concentration camps. I suspect his family were all killed, but he survived the diseases and the appointment with the dreaded gas chambers for two years.

One day, he was walking along the barb wire fence, he saw a girl his age standing on the other side. She gave him an apple. And did so for every day for the next 7 months.

But he was scheduled for the gas chamber and the Russian army swooped just in time to save him.

15 years later, Herman was living in New York City. His well meaning friends decided to set him up with a blind date.

Any guesses who the girl was? Yep, it was Roma, the girl that fed Herman the apples to save his life from starvation!

Being no idiot, Herman proposed to her that day and they have been married for 50 years.

Today, none of us are living in the horrors of a death camp. so don't take things so seriously and tell everybody that you care for that you love them. If you don't do it now, it may be too late...

This video has been seen over a million times. Apparently, this poor "tuckered out" technician was on hold with Comcast for an hour and fell asleep. WITH THE HOMEOWNER VIDEO TAPING HIM!

The point is, don't fall asleep on your relationship. Sometimes the person you are with is the FINEST person you will ever know. Don't regret it...

Oh yeah, Comcast fired the guy, apologized to the homeowner and probably STILL sucks! :)

And she does all those things that gets her bad press... drunk driving, public embarrassing incidences, and whatever else she is doing now...

She used to be pretty and America's darling and now look who she is, a really sad, sad woman who is probably crying for help and not getting it.

The point I'm trying to make is be very careful who you idolize. Britney Spears isn't it.

This story also reminds me of my great uncle and aunt. They were my godparents. And they never failed to send me a gift every birthday and Christmas even though they lived on the opposite side of the country.

My great aunt suffered just like this lady did, from Alzheimer's and lived in a nursing home for the last couple years of her life. My Uncle, in his 80's would visit her every single afternoon, no matter what the weather was like. When she passed away, my uncle died a week later.

I think the lesson that I learned from my dear godparents is this...

Always cherish the person you choose to live with. It goes both ways. Patience and listening to each other goes a long way.

They passed away ten years ago but I always think of them. They both had big hearts and did their best to love you.

We all have heard of Jerry Seinfeld from the hit TV show. Jerry is now 53 years young and admits that he didn't become a full grown adult until he was in his late 30s.

Jerry talks a little about growing up. He said he wasn't funny but his dad was the comedian in the family. Jerry had to "force" himself to get up on stage and be funny. It was terrifying for him. I can imagine because most people are scared to death of public speaking. I heard people are MORE scared of public speaking than death.

Go figure.

Back to Jerry Seinfeld. He said his success was due to his relentless work ethics. The only demon he had was the lazy demon.

Wow, that is refreshing for someone to say that because our world is obsessed with quick and easy. And along comes Jerry Seinfeld throwing that myth out the window.

Oh yeah, he is really happy now. Syndication revenues from the 9 year run of his sitcom has made Jerry very wealthy. He has been married for 8 years and has 3 children.

I'm happy everything is working out well for Jerry...

Recently, I read a very interesting article from Robert Ringer (link below)

Prerequisite to Loving Your Neighbor, Part I

He wrote that you MUST first respect yourself! Robert said that a lot of people that he meets do not respect themselves and consequently, do not respect others.

He said, "You can see it in his facial expressions and body language; you can hear it in his words and in the tone of his voice. "

To tell you the truth, I never thought about it that way. I always assumed that when someone is rude or cross with me, that it has nothing to do with me. They are just having a bad day. But what if they are having a bad life? What if YOU are having a bad life?

Yes, what happens if you are the person that Robert Ringer is describing. I can imagine that many people, including myself, never thought about how others view us. Are we unconsciously telling people that we dislike ourselves or have little or no self respect? Are we treating others with contempt?

And it is very hard to change your personality. I know that. But if the underlying foundation is shaky, you MUST take steps to strengthen it or the whole house will fall down.

The truth of the matter is I think most of these studies by "researchers" are just that, finding excuses and reasons to justify why we have lack of self respect.

What do I mean?

If you are jealous, if you are looking at other members of the opposite sex instead of your spouse, you are probably lacking in the self-respect department.

And guess what? If you lack self respect -- as sure as it rains, you lack respect for others.

I read an interesting article the other day concerning May December romance...

This article states that older men who shack up with much younger women keep the Grim Reaper at bay for the human population and extend our species' lifespan, new research claims.

We all know that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones is 25 years apart but she married him after he reportedly told her that he would like to father her children. And he has -- twice!

To sum it up, the article says that when older men mate with younger women, biologically, both mates live longer...

So, is this just an excuse for older men to seek younger women or does this theory hold water?

Shaq is unhappy -- and he filed for a divorce

Even rich and famous folks can be very unhappy. I can conclude that money does not alway guarantee happiness...

As it happens, Shaquille O'Neal claimed his marriage to wife Shaunie has been "irretrievably broken," and accuses her of being shady with his cash.

The first point I wanted to bring to your attention is this dude probably has a net worth over $100 million dollars. And his current NBA contract pays him $20 million a year.

So the last thing I would expect is that money would become an issue with him and his soon to be ex-wife. I have heard rumors that she sells little or unused stuff from the house on ebay.

Don't know if it true or if this is one of the reasons for the rift between the two. At least they are thinking of their 4 kids. Shaq wants them to live with her and he wants liberal visitation rights...

But still -- just because you have loads of money and all the fame you want -- doesn't mean you are perfect. We should always try to improve our relationships -- make it stronger -- it will pay off in the long run because it has been proven that happy marriages has a direct correlation to our personal health.

And those who divorce to seek better mates are usually disappointed. I think the main reason is that they continue to make the same mistakes that caused the problems in the previous marriage.

Guys -- Quit Complaining -- This Dude is 90 Years Old!

Who says that making love and procreating end before you hit 30?

The world's oldest father has done it again, fathering a child for at least the 21st time, at the age of 90.

Indian farmer Nanu Ram Jogi, who is married to his fourth wife, boasts he does not want to stop, and plans to continue producing children until he is 100.

So guys, get a clue. It is never the wife or girlfriend that is the problem... it is you!

So if she isn't interested in you anymore, it probably is 99% caused by your actions and behavior. And I am not trying to make you feel bad. Most guys and including me, has never figured out or been told EXACTLY how to keep your woman interested in you.

Because ultimately, guys love women who are feminine and sexy. If that isn't happening in your life anymore -- if you have no sex in your relationship -- I got some information for you.

You can't "make" her desire you. You have to create the conditions and behaviors that will make you desirable so that she wants you. Get the difference?

I haven't seen this music video in a long time and watched it the other day. It reminded me of how simple... how perfect it is to hug someone who isn't even expecting a hug from you!

Let's try doing this today... hug five people. It can be your family, your close friends and even... if you dare -- a perfect stranger that didn't even know he/she needs a hug.

Just offer a hug and then go your way... And yes, it is that simple and would be more appreciated than you know!!!

Don't look now but Don Imus is back...

Well, it looks like Don Imus is back in the news again. Not only he settled with his former employers for $20 Million dollars...

He is getting sued by one of the Rutger basketball player that he insulted that started this whole circus.

And don't get me wrong... I think Don Imus is a gas bag that said things he shouldn't have said. And yes, it was extremely obnoxious but not illegal. We do have free speech which is one of the most cherished rights we have in the greatest country in the world.

But still...

Did I mention that Don Imus is a giant bag of gas?

I am sure this is what happens when you "get away" from saying crap for years and your employers don't take measures to clean up your act. Why? They are scared because believe it or not -- a LOT of people really like to hear him blabber...

Must be for entertainment purposes because I don't listen to him...

So I am sure he is getting back on the radio again -- hopefully a wiser man.

And about the lawsuit -- don't know if it will ever make it to court but anything that will pester Imus is fine with me.

So the lesson here as always -- there are consequences for everything you do and say. Less said is usually better...

And we are concerned for the survivors of the accident...

Then we wonder what if an accident happens to us?

We would be driving down the road and the next thing we know the sky is down and the earth is up...

And none of us deserves to die... well... except for Hilter, Stalin and others like those guys...

But still -- we must keep on going. Not let fear ruin our lives...

Why Are Muslim Males So Angry?

I was reading the magazine, Psychology today (August 2007). And one of the articles was -- 10 outrageous truths about men and women [brace yourself]. And a subarticle was titled: Suicide Bombing Has NOTHING To Do With Islam…

Granted, this is a very very provocative argument and I kept reading...

This article makes the point that most suicide bombers ARE Muslim. And that suicide bombing has nothing to do with Islam but it has everything to do with the absence of sex.

To tell you the truth, I was intrigued how they arrived at that conclusion and so will you...

The article says that the Islamic society tends to be polygyny. Which is a way of saying that men of higher status are allowed to have more than one wife. And since most societies are 50% men and 50% women – it means that a lot of men in Islamic societies have little or zero chances of getting a wife and starting a family.

So polygyny increases the competitive pressure on the men of low status because wealthier men tend to have more than one wife. The men of low status may resort to violence acts such as murders, assaults, and rapes to gain access to mates.

Then these men get the promise of 72 virgins waiting in heaven for those anyone who is a martyr. The definition of a martyr is anyone who dies in the defense of their beliefs. The key word here is beliefs. It can be defined by anyone in the position of authority, which really isn’t difficult, because the men who answer the call of suicide bombing are just about always single and always low status males who have a really bleak future of no women and NO SEX.

And the promise of a harem of 72 virgins is a very, very enticing way to get illiterate and poor young males to volunteer to give up their lives.

In short, if the premises and facts put out by Psychology Today is true, the current trend of blowing up yourself to further the agendas of authority figures in the Mosques and Muslim countries is one of the most diabolical and horrific scam perpetuated on society today…

Just wow. Makes a lot of sense to me.
