Together for 71 years, couple die only four hours apart
This is a incredible love story that we may never see again. They are the couple on the left.
This story also reminds me of my great uncle and aunt. They were my godparents. And they never failed to send me a gift every birthday and Christmas even though they lived on the opposite side of the country.
My great aunt suffered just like this lady did, from Alzheimer's and lived in a nursing home for the last couple years of her life. My Uncle, in his 80's would visit her every single afternoon, no matter what the weather was like. When she passed away, my uncle died a week later.
I think the lesson that I learned from my dear godparents is this...
Always cherish the person you choose to live with. It goes both ways. Patience and listening to each other goes a long way.
They passed away ten years ago but I always think of them. They both had big hearts and did their best to love you.
